Syrah was the winegrowers’ darling just a couple years back but now it seems like the stuff just won’t sell, so everywhere you turn there are great deals to be had on California Syrah. Problem is, they are mostly pretty tasty, but mostly taste the same - ultra ripe, ultra oaked, very non-varietal. So they are good if you like rich, ripe red wine at budget prices, but not so good if you like Syrah that really tastes like Syrah. This wine is being blown out at Safeway here in NorCal for under t
